Questions About Invisalign

I had traditional braces as a teenager, and my teeth have since become crooked again. Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

Yes. Though your teeth may have shifted, they are most likely not as crooked as they were before braces. In many ways, you are an ideal Invisalign patient. Invisalign is the treatment of choice for people with mildly crooked teeth. Chances are good that your entire treatment may only take 6 to 12 months.

Is the Invisalign process as painful as traditional braces?

Traditional braces can be excruciatingly painful. None of our patients have ever reported suffering excessive pain with Invisalign. You will most likely feel some pain and discomfort during the first few days of a new aligner. However, this should go away after two or three days. If you do experience pain that you feel is excessive, alert Dr. Firouzi immediately.

Will I need to change my diet and lifestyle during the Invisalign process?

No. You should, however, remove your aligners every time you eat or drink. Do not chew gum with your aligners in. If you are a smoker, be sure to remove the aligners when you do, as they are prone to staining.

Will insurance cover my Invisalign process, and how much will it cost?

The cost of the Invisalign process is very close to that of traditional braces. The actual price will depend largely on how crooked your teeth are to begin with and how many treatments you will require. In general, if your insurance plan includes an orthodontic plan, then Invisalign should be covered.

How often will I need to visit the dentist during my Invisalign process?

Generally speaking, you should expect an appointment every four to six weeks. We realize your schedule may be hectic, so we are highly flexible in this regard.
