Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Will my teeth look too white after a tooth whitening procedure?

Many of our patients are concerned about this, and for good reason. We have all seen examples either in real life or in the media of tooth whitening taken too far. Perfectly white teeth do not look natural, nor do they even look good on most people. Dr. Firouzi has performed hundreds of tooth whitening procedures and has the experience and eye for which shade of white will look best for your smile. As with all of our cosmetic dentistry procedures, our aim is to enhance your smile in a way that also looks natural. We can guarantee that your teeth will not look like white Chiclets when you leave our office.

Is tooth whitening safe? Will it damage my teeth?

FDA-approved tooth whitening procedures such as the Kurthy Deep Bleaching method are 100% safe. They will not damage your teeth, even after several treatments. Some patients experience tooth sensitivity after a treatment, but this is not an indication that any damage has occurred. Any tooth sensitivity should go away after several hours.

How expensive are cosmetic dentistry procedures?

Recent years have seen a significant drop in the cost of most cosmetic dentistry procedures. This is due, in part, to the availability of necessary technology, the availability of advanced training, and increased numbers of trained cosmetic dentists in the marketplace. Costs can range from a few hundred dollars for a tooth whitening treatment to several thousands of dollars for a multi-stage full mouth reconstruction. At your consultation, Dr. Firouzi will discuss cost considerations with you and inform you of the many financing options available at our office.

Will my insurance cover cosmetic dentistry procedures?

Most cosmetic dentistry procedures are elective, which means that most insurance plans will not cover them. However, some procedures can be considered necessary in order to maintain good oral health and may be covered by insurance. Dr. Firouzi and his team are very experienced and familiar with most insurance providers and their requirements, so they will be able to advise you accordingly.

If insurance will not cover my procedure, how can I afford it?

We work with CareCredit®, a financial services provider that offers low interest, low down payment loans to those wanting cosmetic dentistry work performed. They offer several different payment plans and time frame options. Many of our patients have been pleased with the services CareCredit provides.
